As the United Nations has proclaimed 2012 the “International Year of Cooperatives” it makes sense for credit unions to get involved and demonstrate how “cooperative enterprises build a better world.”

In the spirit of cooperation, the Northwest Credit Union Association would like to help organize a financial literacy event April 3, 2012.  We need up to 22 Seattle-area credit union volunteers to help more than 130 enthusiastic middle school students experience Junior Achievement’s Finance Park.

It’s an amazing facility and an amazing experience for volunteers as well as students, who are tasked with applying their classroom training to navigate the “real life” financial pressures their parents face, budgeting food, clothing and health care for households, or making decisions running competitive businesses.  The training session begins at 8:00 a.m. and the volunteer event ends at 2:00 p.m.

Having volunteers from a variety of local credit unions will send a powerful message about the power of cooperation!

Please register yourself, and any other staff members who would be able to volunteer for this event.
